  • Assignment post function

SnapAssign includes a powerful post function that can be added to your workflow transitions in Jira. This post function automatically assigns issues after determining the team and assignment rule whenever a transition is triggered. When you configure SnapAssign in your workflow:

    1. It checks the relevant team and assignment rule.

    2. It then assigns the issue according to the smart assignment logic you've set up.

This ensures that issue assignment happens seamlessly and efficiently, without requiring manual intervention.

Here are the steps to add the SnapAssign - Assignment Post Function to your workflow transition in Jira:

    1. Open Workflows:

      • In the left sidebar, under Workflows, click on Workflows.

    2. Edit the Workflow:

      • Find the workflow you want to modify.

      • Click the Edit button (you may need to make a copy if the workflow is active).

    3. Select the Transition:

      • In the workflow editor, click on the transition where you want to add the SnapAssign post function.

      • A pop-up will appear, click Post Functions.

    4. Add a New Post Function:

      • Click Add post function at the bottom of the list of existing post functions.

    5. Select SnapAssign Post Function:

      • Scroll down the list of available post functions.

      • Select SnapAssign - Assignment Post Function from the list and click Add.

      • No additional configuration is needed for SnapAssign, so you can simply click Add to finalize.

    7. Publish the Workflow:

      • Once you’ve added the post function, click Publish Draft to apply the changes to the workflow.

      • If prompted, confirm the changes by saving a backup of the original workflow.

Now, every time this transition is triggered, the SnapAssign post function will automatically assign the issue according to the rules and team definitions you have set up in the app.
